Take this time every year to take care of your heart. Each year heart disease affects more than 6.5 million American women and is responsible for one in four deaths. While many positive advances have been made in women's heart health, 64 percent of women who die suddenly of heart disease have no previous symptoms since women experience more varied and less obvious symptoms compared to men. Gender variations are real and women need to be their own advocates and demand increased awareness of our symptoms. Our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends are at risk.
