  • In April, some 150 10th-grade students from Lee High School participated in the first IB MYP Personal Project Showcase. Students displayed presentations of their Personal Projects that they have been working on since the end of their 9th-grade year. The projects take students through a process of inquiry into something of interest to the student, hence the Personal Project. In addition to their products, students were also required to write a reflection paper that was scored by their supervisor. Supervisors worked with 1-4 students to guide them through the process.

  • Counselor Dr. David Checcino composed an orchestra piece for the Lee HS Chamber Orchestra and it was played on May 18 th in the Spring concert. It is called “Hometown – A Reminiscence.” He dedicated it to his parents, who bought him a trumpet when he was in the fifth grade and would not let him quit playing it. The two transitions in a minor key for solo instruments are meant to evoke nostalgia and they were played on violin by senior Meghan Mitchell and on cello by sophomore Wegahta Habtemichal. “Putting this piece together has indeed been an act of reminiscence for me; perhaps it will invite you to reminisce about your hometown.”
