City of Fairfax Mayor Scott Silverthorne was just named vice chairman of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority. It is an important position because the NVTA is the regional body responsible for long-range transportation planning for regional transportation projects in Northern Virginia. Last year, for example, the City received $15 million in new funding from the NVTA for new CUE buses and transportation improvements at Routes 123/50.
“I am deeply honored to be selected by Northern Virginia’s mayors and chairs or designees, as vice chairman of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority,” said Silverthorne. “I am excited by this new responsibility and look forward to continuing to represent the best small city in America on the Authority.”
