Culpepper Garden celebrated its 41st anniversary on June 4 with its Annual Springtime Garden Party on the grounds of Culpepper Garden at 4435 N. Pershing Drive. From left are County Board Member John Vihstadt; Culpepper Board Chair Susan Philp; County Board Chair Libby Garvey; Event Co-Chair Brad Smith; Event Co-Chair Diane Smith; Virginia State Senator Barbara Favola; and Event Emcee Doreen Gentzler. Susan Philp announced plans to renovate Culpepper Garden’s original 204 units that were built over 40 years ago. Beginning early next year, renovation will be done in stages so that residents will not be displaced. Renovations will include repairs to the exterior of the building, upgrading the heating and cooling systems to increase energy efficiency and updating apartments to improve accessibility.
