A new clubhouse and expanded driving range and parking lot highlight upgrades to the Burke Lake Golf Course in Fairfax Station that’s more than 40 years old.
The clubhouse will be more than doubled in size to 4,000 square feet. Opened in 1970, it doesn’t currently meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, a release from Fairfax County says.
Part of the upgrade includes connecting the clubhouse to an existing public sanitary sewer at the south end of Burke Lake Park.
The current driving range will be expanded to two levels.
Fairfax County said the cost of the project -- $8.1 million -- is being funded by park bonds from 2008 and 2012.
Aug. 15 will be first day the contractor mobilizes on site for parking lot expansion, with construction on the clubhouse and driving range scheduled to begin Oct. 3.
The driving range will close, while the clubhouse will remain open.
May 2017 is the expected re-opening date for the driving range. The clubhouse should be open by October 2017.
