Work Underway to Replace Waters Field Turf

The Town of Vienna began replacing the turf at Waters Field. The field at Center and Cherry streets will be closed throughout installation, which is expected to be completed by Dec. 11. Work on the field will be undertaken, weather permitting, from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays; some work may be done on Saturdays as well.

The artificial turf that is being replaced was installed about 10 years ago, says Vienna Parks and Recreation Director Leslie Herman. The field is used by a variety of community athletic leagues for recreational activities, including football, lacrosse, and baseball. Installation of the new turf will cost approximately $580,000 with funding provided by Fairfax County, Town of Vienna, Vienna Youth Inc. and Greater Vienna Babe Ruth.
