To the Editor:
This year Mount Vernon is fortunate to have an accomplished candidate
for supervisor who provides an attractive alternative to the “same-old,
same-old” politics that has dominated our area for so long. The exciting
news is that Jane Gandee, long-time owner of a successful business on
Richmond Highway, current vice president of the Mt. Vernon-Lee Chamber
of Commerce, and inspirational leader in many civic and charitable
endeavors within our community, received the Republican nomination for
Mt. Vernon supervisor.
Jane’s business leadership over 30 years with Service Masters has
brought permanent and well-paid jobs to our community, employing
hundreds directly and indirectly. She has provided her workforce with
real opportunities for advancement and helped our economic situation
along the Route 1 corridor. Jane and her husband Greg have lived in the
area for 30 years, raising two children. Jane knows first-hand what
it takes to run a successful business and raise a family in Mt. Vernon.
Like many of us, she is tired of the lack of progress, the bureaucratic
gridlock that faces all of our citizens and the decline in our schools.
She is an advocate for all citizens, including our children, and will
help our community to thrive again. As vice president of the Chamber of
Commerce, Jane also knows the local leadership, and has demonstrated the
temperament and skill to bring people together to solve problems and
achieve success.
Jane is a breath of fresh air and truly “walks the walk.” She is
brilliant, dedicated, caring and results-oriented, and I ask everyone to
join me in giving her our full support. It is past time we have new
ideas in our community, and someone with the experience to get Mount
Vernon District moving forward again.
I have known Jane for years, and I can attest that she will make a great
Supervisor. It is time for us to Move Forward Together — and Jane Gandee
is the right person to lead Mt. Vernon into a successful future. Let’s
not settle for the same-old, same-old. Our community deserves more.
