Deborah Dodge, then 17, wedded James W. Blackburn, Jr., then 18, on Aug. 27, 50 years ago at Christ Church in Rockville, Md., officiated by the Rev. Raymond P. Black.
They went to Ocean City, Md. for a brief honeymoon before they relocated for James to attend the University of Richmond.
They are longtime natives of Alexandria, currently residing in Old Town as well as King George, Va., south on the Potomac River. They have two children: Emily Margaret, 37,
