More than 100 people gathered on the edges of the plaza outside the Arlington County building on Thursday morning, Sept. 11, to remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001. County officials and staff along with numerous public safety officers filled the plaza for the 9:30 a.m. ceremony. The Arlington County Public Safety honor guard presented the colors. Liza
Hadskins sang the National Anthem. Firefighter Jerry Hanson, Sheriff Sgt. Richard Laureano and Police Lt. Kip Malcolm
placed a wreath at the base of the flagpoles in the plaza and lowered the three flags to half-mast in respect for all those who died.
