The American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP™) recently held its annual sports sciences symposium in Orlando, Fla. During the symposium they announced the annual winner of the “Sports Chiropractor of the Year” award; Dr. Anne P. Sorrentino of McLean. She is only the third woman ever to receive this honor.
Dr. Sorrentino is a staff doctor at Grove Spine and Sports Care in Tysons CornerShe also teaches for DConline, Active Release Techniques and SpiderTech Taping System. She has served on sports medical teams for several events including USA Track and Field Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa, IRONMAN Lake Placid, N.Y., State Games of America 2013, and the Pennsylvania Keystone Games. In 2011, she was selected to serve a clinical rotation at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Most recently she served as the Medical Manager for the SuperPipe and Slope Venues at the Dew Tour Breckenridge 2013, an Olympic qualifying event. She has served as the team doctor for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Teams for the past 6 years. Dr. Sorrentino is also an EMT and a national ski patroller for Hidden Valley Four Seasons Ski Resort in Pennsylvania.
Originally from St. James, N.Y. and a 1977 graduate of Smithtown High School East, Dr. Sorrentino maintained a practice in Indiana, Pa. for 24 years. She currently practices in Tysons Corner. A 1982 graduate of St. John’s University, NY, Dr. Sorrentino received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, IA in September 1988, graduating cum laude. She became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® in 1995 and received her Diplomate in Sports Chiropractic® in 2012.
