New Inova Mount Vernon Hospital CEO Deborah Addo (left) applauds announcement last month of a $2 million gift from Mount Vernon area resident Jeffrey Veatch (center) to expand and renovate the Emergency Department at the hospital. The community’s donations and Veatch’s matching funds will help to increase the actual size and number of treatment rooms from 20 to 35. In addition, some of the treatment rooms will be built specifically for children. The waiting room also will be expanded and a children’s play area will be added.

Mount Vernon area resident Jeffrey Veatch (at podium) explains how his gift of $2 million will nearly double the amount of emergency rooms and include more child-friendly amenities in the Emergency Department at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. Veatch is a co-founder and former co-CEO of Apex Systems, Inc., an information technology staffing and services firms. Veatch and his business partners recently sold the company to On Assignment, where he currently serves on its board of directors.
