Dressed in green and gold and bursting with energy, George Mason University alumna and Washington, D.C. television news reporter Angie Goff woke up the City of Fairfax starting at 4:30 on Aug. 14 with live broadcasts near George Mason's main campus that aired on the NBC affiliate News4.
Goff interviewed Mason associate music professor and Green Machine pep band director Michael Nickens—better known as "Doc Nix"—amid the cheers of Greek Life members from University Life's Student Involvement; and the Fairfax High School band and football team. "Fairfax couldn't be a better place for Mason to grow," Nickens said. "It's been a great community; very supportive."
Outside the Sherwood Community Center on Old Lee Highway, Doc Nix also shook hands with Mayor R. Scott Silverthorne and Mason alumnus, City Councilmember Jeff Greenfield.
Goff also promoted Mason and Fairfax's partnership on 9/11 Day of Service and Fall for the Book next month. The City of Fairfax broadcast is the final installment this year in the NBC local television affiliate's series on Celebrate Summer in Washington, D.C. area towns.
