Mount Vernon — Leilani "Lillie" Soriano, a rising 5th grader, was accepted into the Emerging Scholars Program which began on June 24. ESP is a 14-month academic and leadership program that was established in late 2002. Lillie, a member of the National Elementary Honor Society, completed her 4th grade at Cameron Elementary School in Alexandria. Beginning in the fall, she will attend Springfield Estates Elementary School in the Level 4 Advanced Academics Program. She will continue her studies in strings, piano, and choir. Lillie also serves her community as a Junior Girl Scout and volunteers in various non-profit activities with organizations such as Prevention of Blindness Society and National MS Society.
