Cox Communications continues its efforts to keep families safe in their digital lives and beyond by hosting a Family Safety Day at its Herndon Solutions Store (3080 Centreville Road, Herndon) on June 29 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Along with partner HLN of Turner Networks, Cox will be offering free digital fingerprinting for children as well as numerous other activities and safety demonstrations.
Family Safety Day offers parents a free digital fingerprint from an iPad kiosk that uses advanced biometric scanners. Parents are provided with a printout of a photo, the fingerprint and a place for families to save vital information. Thousands of children have been fingerprinted since the program’s initiation in 2002.
“Customers trust Cox each day to connect them to the things they care about. For most people, home and family are at the top of that list. The Family Safety Fair is an ideal way for Cox to demonstrate all the resources we have to keep families safe, especially in their digital lives,” said J.D. Myers, vice president of Northern Virginia Operations for Cox Virginia.
In addition to the Digital Fingerprinting Kit, there will be representatives from the fire, police and sheriff’s departments on hand to answer questions and provide information about car seat safety and emergency readiness. Children will also be able to explore a fire truck and ambulance, try on gear, sit in a police cruiser and have a friendly, positive interaction with the first responders in their community. Digeez, the Cox mascot, will be at the fair enjoying face painting, tattoos and crafts with the children.
Cox Solutions Educators will demonstrate the robust tools available to keep families safe online through Cox’s Take Charge website and will also be available to demonstrate the newest Cox technology, including Cox Home Security.
