Herndon Man Dies in Fatal Crash
A Herndon man in his early 30’s died as a result of a crash that took place on Dranesville Road at around 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
The victim was a passenger in a 1997 BMW and was ejected from the car after the driver lost control, ran off of the right side of the roadway and rolled the vehicle near Butter Churn Drive. The driver attempted to continue driving after the crash but—according to the police report—reportedly ran over the passenger who was lying in the roadway.
Both driver and passenger fled the scene but were located several hours later. The driver, Elixavier Ramirez, 23, of Herndon was located when he attempted to report that the vehicle had been stolen. Detectives charged Ramirez with felony hit and run, no operator’s license and filing a false police report.
A second passenger was located in Loudoun County after approaching a deputy and reporting that he had been in a crash. Wilson Escobar, unknown age, of Herndon was transported to Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Crash Reconstruction Detectives are continuing the investigation and additional charges may be pending.
