Arlington Sunrise of Arlington has recently earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star certification. This is one of more than 30 communities in the U.S. that have received this certification.
To earn this award, Sunrise focused on efficiency in the areas of lighting and HVAC, as well as laundry and kitchen operations.
Commercial buildings that earn EPA's Energy Star certification use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
EPA introduced the Energy Star label for buildings in 1999, and began rating senior care communities in 2011. The Energy Star energy performance scale helps organizations assess how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide.
