Rachel VanPelt, family and consumer sciences teacher at Madison High, has been recognized by the Virginia Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Alumni and Associates organization with its Connie S. Rhoton Alumni and Associates Achievement Award for outstanding support of and involvement in the state organization. VanPelt was also recognized with the Master Adviser Award, which recognizes FCCLA advisers who have worked with a student chapter for at least three years, promoted the organization, facilitated youth-centered activities, and kept abreast of new happenings within the organization. She received her awards at the 2012 FCCLA state leadership conference held recently in Virginia Beach.
