The James Madison High School Band, the "Pride of Vienna," offers one of the finest high school band programs in the U.S. On Sept. 8, the band students (both instrumentalists and color guard) will canvass neighborhoods in the Madison school district to solicit contributions in support of its programs. Fairfax County does not fully fund the music program, so the band must raise money to pay for the instruction and assistance they depend on. Funding will be used for travel and entry fees to national competitions, instruments and equipment, musical instructors, student leadership training, and student awards. Band members will be at your door in their uniforms that day to ask for a tax-deductible support.
