The Chantilly High girls' softball team, earlier this week on Tuesday, April 17, won a Concorde District road game at Herndon High, 6-0.
Chantilly senior Dani Almodiel sent a home run over the center field fence for one of the several Charger highlights in the win. Other good production at the plate came from freshman Sabrina Pierce (3 RBIs) and senior Emily Gembarowicz (2 RBIs).
Meanwhile, on the mound, Chantilly junior pitcher Alex Sallberg struck out 11 Hornet batters with no walks allowed in picking up the shutout win.
Chantilly, under head coach Carmen Wise, improved to 5-5 overall, and 1-2 in the district. The Chargers will play at district opponent Robinson this Friday night at 7. Chantilly's next home game will be next Tuesday night, April 24 when the Chargers host Concorde opponent Centreville High at 6:30.
