Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation (NWFCU Foundation) will hold a free seminar for college students on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at its Herndon office, located at 200 Spring Street. The seminar, titled Money Management 101, will help college students learn how to manage their money on a student budget, how to avoid credit card debt, the basics of checking products, ATM usage tips and fees and more.

Michael and Laura Pierce providers of non-medical. in-home care services to local families was recently honored by CK Franchising, Inc. for their performance as a Comfort Keepers franchise owner. Michael and Laura were recognized during the Celebration Dinner and Awards Ceremony during the Comfort Keepers Annual Conference held in Tucson, May 31.

Comfort Keepers of Fairfax was recognized for the fourth year in a row with the President’s Club Award. "To be recognized in front of our peers at the Annual Conference was a great honor," said Mr. and Mrs. Pierce. "Ask any senior and they will say that they prefer to stay in their own home. I am thrilled to own a business that can make their wishes a reality."

Michelle Luiken, of Centreville, a representative for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care(r) of Northern Virginia, has been inducted as a member of VITAS' prestigious Leadership Council. The VITAS Leadership Council recognizes a select group of top performing managers and patient advocates who embody the company's mission and values and possess the vision, energy and commitment to succeed. Recipients have met specific key performance indicators that contribute to the success of the organization. As a VITAS representative, Luiken educates physicians and healthcare facility professionals about the benefits of hospice care for patients with life-limiting diagnoses. She joined VITAS in 2007 after serving in sales representative and account management positions for several pharmaceutical and healthcare supply companies. Luiken received a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown.

The Centreville Rotary Club has moved its meeting location from the I-Hop in Centreville to the EggsSpectations Restaurant in Chantilly. The Rotary Club meets Tuesdays from 11:30-12:30 p.m. for lunch. There is a new guest speaker every week with topics ranging from estate planning to how the Rotary helps during emergencies.
