Boulter Enters Supervisor Race

Virginia Hills man past president of Forward Fairfax.

Virginia Hills resident Doug Boulter has announced his candidacy for Lee District supervisor.

Boulter, a resident of Virginia Hills for the past 17 years, was president of the Virginia Hills Association from 2000-06 and served as president of Forward Fairfax for two years. Boulter has also been a member of the Fairfax County School Board Technology and Advisory Committee since 2002 and the Lee District Land Use and Transportation Committee since 2004.

"Coming from a civic association perspective, I know how difficult it is to get small things done in Fairfax County," Boulter said. "I've seen firsthand how difficult it is to maintain the quality of life in light of all this growth, especially in Springfield."

Boulter, who announced his candidacy during the February meeting of the Fairfax County Republican Committee, said he feels Fairfax County has been taking a "piecemeal" approach to growth.

"We need to do things in this county by looking at the big picture and in such a way that doesn't do harm to our environment," he said. "We can't grow without getting the transportation infrastructure in place first."

Boulter will challenge Jeff McKay for the seat, currently held by Dana Kauffman (D). McKay is Kauffman's chief of staff.
