Historic Vienna Inc. sponsors "A Week in History" camp. Two sessions are offered — one from July 19-23, and one from July 26-30 — at the Freeman House daily, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Designed for children ages 8-10. Activities center around the history of Vienna, the Freeman House and the adjacent W&OD Railroad. Campers must bring their own lunch. Fee is $115 for Vienna residents and $135 for non-residents. The Vienna Parks and Recreation Department hosts its Summer Playground Program for children 6-11 through Aug. 6, at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E. Weekly sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily. Cost per session is $60 for town residents and $75 for out-of-town participants. The Vienna Parks and Recreation Department's Summer Excursion Camps for rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders takes place weekly from July 21 to Aug. 6. Vienna Parks and Recreation Department sponsors Youth Sports Camps throughout the summer. Children can learn the fundamentals of golf, horseback riding, fencing, tennis, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, football and cheerleading. Girl Scouts. Two age groups open to girls between 5 and 11, and 11 and 17, with activities/events planned all year round. Activities include high-adventure outings such as rock climbing, white-water rafting and back packing, international and national travel, internship opportunities on Capitol Hill, theater, art, science, technology and making friends. Flint Hill Elementary School, School Business Partners and Interstate Worldwide Relocation teamed up for a musical production on June 2 at the Interstate corporate office in Springfield. The Flint Hill sixth grade strings group performed for Interstate employees. Following their performance, the group toured the facility. To finish up their visit, the students were treated to a pizza lunch.
