Potomac Day
<lst>* Annual Parade. 10:30 a.m.
The annual parade begins at River Road and Potomac Manors Drive and features the Potomac Hunt with horses and hounds, horses from the Potomac Bridle and Hiking Trails Association, Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department, floats, marching bands, antique cars, community organizations, boy scouts and girl scouts, the Potomac Citizen, Youth and Business Person of the year, as well as local, county and state officials.
* Children's Festival. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
A Children's Festival of free rides and activities, including pony rides, moon bounce, ballcrawl, superslides, balloons, pumpkin decorating, face painting, climbing wall, fire trucks and scarecrow making. Located in the Potomac Promenade and Potomac Place Shopping Center.
* Art Show
The week before Potomac Day will include a community-wide art show, with local artists displaying paintings and other artwork in Potomac banks and other business. This year, Summerville at Potomac, an assisted-living facility at Seven Locks Road and Tuckerman Lane will also display the art of its residents.
* Potomac Day 5K Fun Run. 9 a.m. start; 8 a.m. registration.
Meet at the Bank of America parking lot at 8 a.m. to register for the prompt 9 a.m. start. To pre-register, download the sign-up form from www.PotomacChamber.org, or mail a check for $15 along with name, address, phone number, age, gender, and T-shirt size to Potomac Chamber of Commerce, Inc., 9812 Falls Road, Suite 114, Box 321, Potomac, MD 20854. Race day fee is $20.
* Craft and Antique Fair. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
At the Potomac Promenade shopping center near Sandy Springs Bank.
* Dog Walk and Pet Fair. 9:30-10 a.m.
Meet at Potomac Elementary School for the 1.5 mile stroll in Potomac with your two-legged friends and four-legged pets followed by lunch and a pet fair. Get a T-shirt, a doggie bandanna and a doggie bag of treats. Supports the SPCA.
* Taste of Potomac.
Food from Potomac's restaurants will be available after the parade.
* Business Fair. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Local merchants and community organizations in the shopping center after the parade. To enter the business fair, download the sign-up form from www.PotomacChamber.org, or mail a note including business and individual name, address, phone number to Potomac Chamber of Commerce, Inc., 9812 Falls Road, Suite 114, Box 321, Potomac, MD 20854. Booth space is $75 for chamber members and $125 for non-members.
* Open House
At the Potomac Community Library, all day.
* Antique Car Show.10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Cherner Automotive hosts the annual Classic Car Show at the store on Falls Road.
* Potomac Chamber Awards Banquet. Nov. 6 at Normandie Farm.
The awards banquet will honor Potomac Citizen of the Year, Potomac Youth of the Year, and Business Person of the Year. Funds raised will go to this year’s beneficiary, Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department. For reservations or information, call the Potomac Chamber at 301-299-2170.
