Farrar's Thee Pointers Down Lynchburg
A three-point shot by former Centreville High School basketball player Ryan Farrar helped the University of Mary Washington basketball team down Lynchburg College in double overtime on Nov. 20.
With 1:51 left in the game, Farrar hit a three-point shot that allowed the Eagles to take the lead. As time dwindled down, Farrar hit another three pointer that sealed the 97-91 victory.
Farrar finished the game 17 points, three assists and played 42 minutes.
SYA Screamers Place Second at Tourney
The SYA Screamers Travel Soccer Team, formed three months ago from SYA house teams, finished in second place in the U-15 Boys Division of the 13th Annual Hunt Country Classic Tournament, held Nov. 21-22 in Warrenton.
Led by Coach Russ Carter and Assistant Coach Karnail Kooner, the 17-man team won their games against teams from Front Royal and Reston before losing in the championship game.
Westfield Athletic Hall-of-Fame
he Westfield Athletic Boosters Club has announced the inaugural year for the Westfield Athletic Hall of Fame.
The mission of the Westfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize those athletes, teams, coaches and athletic administrators who have made significant achievements in a sport or sports, or who have made significant contributions through their performance, dedication, commitment or accomplishments.
In addition, the Westfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame is intended to foster pride and promote a tradition of athletic excellence and good sportsmanship.

Nominations for the first inductees must be post marked by Feb. 1, 2010.
Westfield Dancers Claim First
The Westfield dance varsity and junior varsity teams claimed first place in the pom division during a tournament at Paul VI High School on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.
The team also brought home two individual awards.
Soloist Allison Hughes played first individually in the senior solo division and head coach Cindy Kilmer won the award for best overall choreography.
Blaze Take First at Shakedown
The Northern Virginia Blaze U-18 Travel Softball team went undefeated at the Winchester Fall Shakedown Tournament played on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8.
The team went 6-0 to claim first place at the tournament. The Northern Virginia Blaze features girls from Centreville, Chantilly Clifton, Fairfax, Reston, Vienna, Burke, Annandale, Arlington and Great Falls.
Indoor Lacrosse Registration
Northern Virginia West Lacrosse (NoVa West) is currently in the process of registering for its indoor lacrosse season.
The group is also accepting registrations for tryouts in their summer select teams which include U11, U13, U15 and two levels of High School play.

Holiday Sports Camp
Parents seeking a high energy camp for children during the holiday break might be interested in the Fit Kids Sports Mania Holiday Camp.
The Camp is for children ages 5 to 9 and will be held at the Claude Moore Community center from Dec. 28 to Dec. 30.
Camp runs from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. and will feature a variety of sports including soccer, hockey, t-ball and more.
The camp’s goal is to emphasis teamwork and sportsmanship.
